PCC x Donovan Zealand Until 2027 - ANNOUNCEMENT

Luke Sumner25 Jan - 14:00

Penrith CC are delighted to announce that the services of Donovan Zealand as Overseas Amateur have been secured until the end of the 2027 Season.

Donovan had an outstanding year at Tynefield Park in 2024, amassing over 500 runs and taking over 75 wickets.

These statistics subsequently made the Penrith Cricket Club's committee feel it was necessary to re-sign the Nambian all-rounder on a longer term basis as an integral part of the club's plans to bring sustained success to the club in the coming years.

1st XI Captain Nicky Burns is excited to have Donovan back and has shared his thoughts:

"To be able to sign Donovan for another 3 seasons is a huge signing, not just to the 1st team but the whole club.

Donovan made a hugely positive impact for the us last year. He’s an extremely talented cricketer and we look forward to seeing him in action down at Tynefield Park again in what promises to be an exciting season on and off the field."

PCC Cricket Development Manager Luke Sumner is also positive about the re-signing of our 2024 Overseas Amateur:

"It's clear to see that Donovan was a huge part of the club last season, which is backed up by his stats.

Furthermore, with all of the positive feedback from everybody at the club, it was a no-brainer that when Donovan expressed his desire to return to Penrith for a longer-term period, we had to get the agreement over the line.

I look forward to meeting Donovan when he arrives in the UK at the end of his season back in Namibia, and wish him all the best for the next three seasons ."

Donovan will join up with the squad for pre-season and will be available for our National Knockout Cup fixture against Cherry Tree Cricket Club at Tynefield Park on Sunday 13th April.
